I personally believe that suffering is one of our greatest spiritual teachers and that spiritual coaching is a wonderful way to learn how to overcome any of that suffering.
Have you endured great suffering that has caused you to question everything?
Are you asking yourself questions like,
- Who am I?
- Why am I here?
- What is the point?
- Is this it?
Maybe you have been in a crisis or a position where you had to make hard choices and you are questioning, being challenged, feeling stuck, imbalanced and / or not being able to move forward in your life.
Our lives can be simply explained using the Hero’s Journey Template.
The hero’s journey is a common narrative archetype, or story template, which involves a hero who goes on an adventure, learns a lesson, wins a victory with that newfound knowledge, and then returns home transformed.
- You need to go somewhere
- Along the way you make mistakes, get deceived etc. and find mentors
- You encounter many trials and may want to give up, but you don’t
- And then you return transformed
Have you ever wondered what makes you you?
Of all the countless forms that consciousness could take, what made it become you?
In the vastness of consciousness, spirit takes on unaccountable forms, but there’s only one unique expression of you. How did that happen?
The answer is choice.
Your life right up to this very moment is the reflection of the choices you’ve made to date. Your choices represent the decision points that guided the direction of your mind, body, health, and life would take.
Cause and Effect.
This concept is often referred to as the Law of Karma. It’s the process by which we create the future through the choices we make in each moment. For some, the idea of karma seems to be a mystical, esoteric, new-aggie term that defines a system of divine reward and punishment based upon our past behavior.
However, the word karma simply means “action,” while also implying the consequences of that action. Therefore, karma is the impartial cause and effect process of the universe. Like gravity, karma is a foundational law of nature.
Understanding Choice.
Karma makes up one of three components of what can be referred to as the software of your soul. This process is essentially governing your life in every moment. For every choice you make, that action creates a memory. In turn, that memory will generate a desire. Desire then leads to the next action and the cycle continues on again and again. Your actions, motivated by desires based upon memories of past action, churn on and on creating a distinctive expression of consciousness – that is you.
Consider any choice you’ve ever made, perhaps going to a rugby match. The action of attending the game will create memories. Those memories of the experience being – either enjoyable or unpleasant – will influence your next desire. Perhaps next time you choose to go to a soccer game instead, or you choose to follow that rugby team for the rest of your life. In this way, your experiences create the patterning framework for your likes and dislikes, your memories, desires, and choices, lasting a lifetime.
The Effect.
The effect of karma on your mind and body is taking place at both conscious and unconscious levels and can account for many, if not all, of your habitual behaviors and tendencies – for better or worse. If you make the same choice over and over, the software of your soul lays down a familiar and deepening groove in your consciousness. Repeated thoughts fire the same neurological networks (brain circuitry), releasing a familiar chemical cocktail (hormones) throughout your body, resulting in a predictable feeling – which is your emotion.
Maintained over time, emotions become moods, moods become part of your temperament, and temperament becomes a personality trait or state of being. In this way choices program your life into predictable bundles of conditioned responses.
Breaking the Past.
Now that you understand the mechanics of cause and effect, it becomes easier to harness karma to form new habits and routines. Ultimately, you’re always making choices, the real question is: How aware are you when you make a choice? Herein lies the key to answering the question of whether you live in a deterministic universe or one of free will. Simply put, it boils down to awareness. If you make unconscious decisions, following the autopilot of your preprogramed conditioning, your life will be one of habituated, predictable thoughts, speech, and action.
If, however, you are paying attention to your thoughts, speech, and actions in each moment, you become the master of free will, able to recognize limiting and constricting patterns cycling through your soul’s software. Once identified, you are much more able to make a different choice, form a new habit, create a new routine, or become a new version of yourself.
If you understand that applying the law of karma is essentially about one thing—conscious choice-making—then practical steps can we taken to bring more awareness to your choices.
As your spiritual coach, I can give you the tips, tools and ideas that make those practical steps implementable.
When you get the mechanics for karma in your life, as well as know how you can make the most evolutionary choices, karma no longer represents a cycle of unending reactivity, but rather a powerful tool to be harnessed for your own growth and liberation.
Spiritual coaching has nothing to do with your religion or belief system. In fact, your spiritual growth and awareness can only deepen any practice that you have. All spiritual coaching is, is an aid to help you transcend your sufferings, learn to respond and live the beautiful life that you so deeply deserve.
During spiritual coaching, I will be able to guide you, challenge you, support your journey for you to reach the stage of acceptance, understanding, peace and harmony you so desire. This in turn will enable you to make choices from your infinite knowing. In other words, you’ll only make the right decisions for you and your life.
